About the event
About this course:
Alex Lewis has been working in office management and administration for the last decade, joining the deathcare industry as funeral and cemetery admin in 2014, and has been overseeing the administrative and office side of East Tennessee Cremation Company for 5 years, as well as providing admin support, copywriting, and web maintenance for The Group.
This course focuses on improving operational efficiency through process engineering principles. It introduces the
concept of process engineering as a deliberate design, emphasizing the importance of each step, not just the end goal. We will explore methods for identifying time-wasting activities and error-prone steps, as well as strategies for improving communication clarity and accountability; the challenges of information management, advocating for a single, accessible repository for key data and exploring both physical and electronic solutions; the importance of smooth workflow, ease of execution, and ease of training, tackling common issues like inefficient file retrieval and slow access to information; the gap between ideal solutions and real-world application; accounting for unexpected deviations from routine; implementation and explanation of process rationale to team members; informed decisions about what to cut and what to keep in a workflow, balancing vital redundancies with the elimination of unnecessary micromanagement; and concludes by emphasizing the creation of habitual processes, with practical examples of workflow optimization in various office settings.
